Transformation Detox: 

Shed Those Winter Layers - Be ready for Spring

As winter wraps us in cozy layers, it’s the perfect time to think about shedding some extra weight. With spring and summer on the horizon, a five to six-month detox plan can help you feel lighter and more energized.

The Plan: Step by Step

Step 1: On-Ramping (Weeks 1-4)

The first phase of your transformation detox is all about getting started. For two to four weeks, focus on adding exercise to your daily routine and clearing out your life clutter.

Spend this time Setting realistic goals for the next five months. Goals like losing a certain number of inches or pounds or strengthening your body.  Journal your progress and stay motivated - track your achievements no matter how trivial they may feel.

Step 2: Focus on Transformation (Months 2-6)

In months two through six of your detoxification, you will set healthy routines and get serious about losing inches and pounds.  Join a gym or ask your health coach to set up a basic exercise routine that fits with your lifestyle.

For those who enjoy weight lifting, this is your chance to transform fat into muscle. According to the American Council on Exercise, strength training can help you burn more calories even when you’re at rest.  Muscle weighs more than fat so your leaner body/ may still weigh the same.  If you need a smaller number on the scale, let your health coach know.

Tips for Success

1.  Group Support: Key to any detox plan is support of your goals. Get your immediate family's support before beginning. 

2. Eat Smart: Focus on healthy foods you like.  A balanced diet can make a big difference to your detoxification results.

3. Beverage Selection: Drink coffee, tea and water. Aim for 8 glasses a day to keep your body hydrated.

4. Get a Health Coach: Share your detoxification goals with a health coach and your doctor. Having a support system can keep you accountable and motivated through the detoxification process.
